Closed Sites and "Secret Flying Sites" - Updated Jan 2013.

If you want to fly sites in the Kamloops / Lumby / South Okanagan Regions that are not listed,
they are CLOSED and / or are on Native Reservation Land and / or visitors MUST be accompanied by a club member.


The Dome is closed again as of 2015, pending an agreement with the First Nations band.

Pemberton Hills (Near Prichard, east of the Hyw 97 intersection on Hyw 1)
has been flown little or none at all for years. Word is that it may be open for flying.

Access is across the Thomson River north of Pritchard.
Take the left fork and then the right fork to Pinanton Lake.
The launch road forks off to the right about 2/3'ds if the way into the lake.

The LZ is half way to the turn off to launch.

There is insufficient information for inclusion in the Site Guide at present.
When further information is provided, that will be addressed for this open site.

Victor 322,
over the sites east of Kamloops, descends into the Kamloops Airport.
The base of that airway for IFR traffic is 7900' ASL. (Right click on the image below to see the full size.)
That means with the required 1000' safety margin, our ceiling (including XC flights through there) is 6900' ASL.



Lime Mt. NW of Clinton - the road up has been blocked.
2011 - 11 UPDATE One of the KVR member pilots is negotiating to see if the road can be re-opened.

Secret Sites:
The Elephant Provincial Park, Ashcroft BC.
2670 feet ASL. GPS: -121.2574W 50.7718N

There is an "Emergency Only" Lz on the west side of the mountain leading on the farm that goes all the way back to the paved road that goes around the north side of the mountain.
