Location: 3.5 Km east of Cache Creek on Hwy 1 in South Central British Columbia

Vehicle / Transportation Requirements:
Rugged 2-WD barely but 4-WD is best.

Launch Description:
Rounded hill top covered in sagebrush with a small cliff in front.
Various launch points depending on wind conditions. Good launch skills required for Paragliders.

Watch set up gliders as they can ground loop (in zero wind) due to thermals breaking off and (in wind) rotor.
Strong thermals (1,500 fpm) can be present right in front of launch. Caution advised.
Beware of thermals breaking off from all over the top.
NEVER leave you glider unattended, even in calm conditions! Wire assistance may be required.

Road Directions to Launch:
This is a real back country 4X4 Road experience. Best to use a TRUCK!
Only 4WD or vehicles with a very good low gear, high ground clearance and very good tires can make it up the last hump.
- Caution #1: Roll over hazard. Caution #2: Be careful of the road when it is wet.
- Caution #3: It is EASY to get lost on this road. Lots of false turnoffs.

3.5 Km east of Cache Creek on Hyw #1 turn north on the Back Valley Road accessed on the north side of Hyw #1
- the Back Valley Road loops to the east behind the ridge.

(Intersections are not flagged yet.)
a) At 3.2 Km turn right. NOTE: the road turnoff here is completely overgrown with lush grass.
- You are approaching the summit of the hill under the power lines. Look for the clear stretch of grass heading west.
b) 4.2 km turn Right (again a grassed over road) then Left.
c) 4.7 Km Hard right (difficult to see on road up, easy to take on road down.)
d) 5.0 Km turn right
3) 5.5 Km Launch

ALERTNATE ROAD IN
a) At 3.6 Km (2.2 Miles) turn right IMPORTANT): Zero your trip meter.
Immediately turn left then
b) at 0.8 Km turn right, then take the next right fork.
c) 4.5 Km turn right
d) 8.1 Km turn right
e) 8.5 Km turn right at the hard switch back
f) 9.5 Km turn right at the point where the road is totally overgrown & very grassed in.
g) 10.9 Km turn right.
h) 10.95 Km turn left.
i) 12.3 Km is Launch.

± All intersections are tagged with red flagging tape.
Noting that on the return trip down there are several Y intersections that are invisible on the way up.
- These will be marked with the club's yellow CAUTION, DO NOT ENTER tape at some point in the future.

Description of LZ:
Northeast corner of crop field below launch. Has a slight slope to the SW. Best if you can land in sagebrush fields.

Landing Zone Directions:
0.3 to 0.5 Km east of the Hyw #1 intersection with the Back Valley Road.
Park just past the Strong Cross Wind Sign at: 50°48'06"N 121°13'26"W
Official landing field belongs to the Semlin Ranch although other fields at the base have been used.
Lookout for power lines if low. Most people fly XC from here and try to use scrub fields to land in.

For your HAGAR Canadian Airspace information

Class E Uncontrolled Airspace to 8,000' ASL.
Airways V325 immediately to the west and V323 immediately to the south are Class E Controlled Airspace from 2200' AGL to 12,500'
Class B controlled airspace above 12,500' ASL.

Call Transport Canada Flight Services Station at 250-376-7941 prior to any XC flight near the Kamloops control zone.
Fly around the 5 mile control zone, not through it.
FSS will require information about where you are flying from, where to, what time period, expected altitude and if you carry a radio.
