Insurance: HPAC Insurance is mandatory.
USHPA etc Insurance is not adequate, as required by lower and mid launch and landing field owners... and for OSA's BC Gov't Tenure for upper launch.

General Location:
Fly Hills mountain range is located directly west of Salmon Arm.

Flying Season: Assign value 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4 (4 is Highest):
Spring: 4 . . . . . . . . Summer: 4 . . . . . . . . Fall: 3 . . . . . . . . Winter: 2 via snowmobile

Ratings Recommendations: Novice, Intermediate or Advanced:
Mild Conditions: Intermediate . . . . . . . . Moderate Conditions: Intermediate . . . . . . . . Strong Conditions: Advanced

Special Skills Sign Off Recommendations: - Need to have strong launching skills at upper launch. Always double check for sticks in your lines!

Vehicle Requirements:
Good 2WD to the Fly Hills (upper) Launch.
High Clearance 2WD for the short roads into the lower and mid launches.

Description of Launch:
Upper Launch is large enough to set up several gliders. It has an excellent slope. Go easy on 2015 freshly seeded grass areas.
Mid Launch is carpeted.

Directions to Launch:
West of Salmon Arm turn south off of Hyw #1 onto 10 Ave SW which becomes 50 St SW.
Turn West onto Christianson Rd.
Follow Road turnoffs here: http://goo.gl/maps/6f03S up to launch.

0.0 km: Fly Hills Main - Gravel Rd starts;
1.i Km. Lower Launch; 2,700' asl
7.7 Km. Mid Launch: 3,400' asl short hike up to rock knob launch. Not handicapped accessible;
11.6 Km: Take the Left fork;
13.0 Km. Upper Launch: Skidoo / Parking lot;
13.1 km. Beautiful Paraglider Metal Gate marks start of the 70m downhill path to launch.

Times to Fly:
All day. East facing sites are best from EARLY morning to mid afternoon.

There are several locations nearby that are well known as sink / no thermal areas:
- Example: The ridge on the east side of the valley from well north of the Stoney Creek Launch (West facing launch) to Mt Ida in Salmon Arm.

The Salmon Arm area is known for big sink at times.
Fly Hills on Westerly flow days is known for its lessons in lee-side wind conditions.

Large Farm Field. Has high crops at some times of the year.
Alternate LZ is 1 Km past Ken's Fly Hills Flight Park, continuing on on 30th Ave SW past Ken's place.

South of the Christianson Rd turnoff to launch.

Regular work parties have made impressive improvements to the (large) upper launch.
Blueberry picking on launch mid July to early August.
