Description of launch:
Good smooth round carpeted launch not visible from the LZ.
Outstanding scenery over Okanagan Lake.


Launch Road Name & Directions:
From Kelowna head North on Westside Road to Traders Cove Marine Park that's where the LZ is. Have a look. Then: 1.7 Km west on Bear Creek Road turn left, stay left at the fork and continue approx. 0.5km to Launch. Launch is not visible from the road.

Times to Fly: best from late morning to 5 PM. Can turn catabatic by 5:30 PM.

Description of LZ:
Small narrow sloping scrub field with a drop off to Okanagan Lake on the north side requiring visitors and pilots new to the site to concentrate on their landing approach skills.
Too small for hang gliding.
LZ belongs to the Central Okanagan Regional District (Parks) and is sensitive.

Do Not fly over parking lot or houses.


Landing road Name and Direction:
From Kelowna head North on Westside Road to Traders Marine Cove Park.

Other Information:
1. Class E Controlled Airspace from 700' AGL to our hard ceiling of 5100' ASL due to Victor 320.
2. Class D Airspace from 6,000' ASL due to proximity of the Kelowna Airport.
3. The Kelowna Tower will tell you what your absolute ceiling is each day you call in.
4. Blue Grouse has a large number of VFR Airways and IFR Victor Airways that come near to it or go directly overhead.
Canadian Aviation Law states that all flights above 700' AGL following land contour at this site requires you to have your HAGAR and to have filed your Flight Itinerary each day. Phoning in to FSS Kelowna Tower is filing your flight itinerary. The Kelowna Tower allows one person to phone in on behalf of a group in order to avoid phone call "bombs" at their busy office.
