RASP now shows Mara / Vernon / Lumby - http://canadarasp.com

See: http://www.westcoastsoaringclub.com/for ... php?t=7815

Add this wonderful free service to your weather links!
This is a huge time, dedicated server and download expense (± 30 Gigabytes per day, three times a day) commitment by Andrew and Peter,
WCSC members gratis service to OSA.

Can not thank them enough.

A perfect tool for sport aviation is Pemberton example from NOAA: (you need to have Java installed) For those without Java click herefor the basic Pemby soundings.

Pic of the 9:00 AM Soundings today for reference below.

Good Tutorial from Texas A & M

Click on the bottom horizontal line on the Red Line
then follow the red line up the dry adiobatic to the horizontal line (cloud base)

Above that you can follow the moist adiobastic (horizontal lines of excess energy = always warmer than the air around it) to obtain information of the overdevelopment potential.

I can do a windgram for other sites not already listed at http://www.canadarasp.com but it doesn't show the surface winds quite as well.

Have a look at http://spotwx.com/
Put the spot on the training hill and then select the GEM LAM (HRDPS) WEST link.
There is a surface wind plot there that should show you what you need.

Don't forget that Windfinder has a smartphone app as well for checking winds in the field.
